Cooking with Microwave

I always like to cook, but when I was in advertising agency, cooking my own dinner is not an option as I don't have much time. But since I got kick out from advertising, I see no reason for me not to cook. But there is a down part, I only have a microwave, cooking with microwave is sure not easy.

Mostly I cook instant noodle. Here are some of food I cook, may not look interesting, but I cooked according to my taste. And I loving it. I put in the ingredient that I like such as luncheon meat, sausage, beef, vege, corn... etc

The only sad thing about microwave is fried or toast. If Microwave can toast or fried stuff, then it will be the awesome kitchen appliances. I got a lot of more recipe which I want to try. Still looking forward to buy a stove, as now I'm not working, I try to budget my lifestyle, buy only require stuff.

Feeling Naked

I'm a specky guy, I wear spectacle since I'm 13. So is been a long time. I don't have a very bad eyesight just a bit blur when in a distant. So one day I was so rush, that after my shower, I pack my beg and go out without knowing that I actually didn't wear my spec. Half way while I was riding my bike, I feel very strange, when my hand reach out touch upon my face, I notice I didn't wear my spectacle. Suddenly I feel so strange, like I'm naked.

I feel so uncomfortable without my glasses. But at home sometimes I don't wear them, but outside, without my spec, I'm totally felt naked. Is how funny it felt. Will I ever wear contact lens, the answer is no, I quiet scare to touch my eyes. So no contact for me and I don't want to feel naked in public.... haha

Long time didn't swim

The last time I swim is around 1.5 years ago, which I was in Tioman doing my Diving. Today is my first time swimming in my apartment pool after 2.5 years I move in here, this is my first. No one at the pool accept me, as most of the people will go to work at this hour.

Forget to update that I have been jobless since December 2008. How come like everything I mention here is all few month to few years back, time really flies. After this swim, I feel like diving again. Too bad now jobless, got no money to do so. Either way, diving will come later, I hope.

This swim is really relaxing, reminded me that how I used to love swimming when I was young. To some people I still young, but 30 just around the corridor for me. Maybe 30 still a young age, is all depends on the heart. For those who long time didn't swim, please do swim, is relax and can really help to distress. Is just like running, burning away the fat and frustration. Happy swimming.

Beerbeer

I hope not many follow this blog anymore, as many already know I seldom update, because I already have a new blog. Is a blog about beer. The blog is called "beerbeer". Drop by if you interest is beer, then you should visit my new blog. You should also become a fan of beerbeer in facebook. Cheers!

I love Shark and I'm sorry for your fin

So on friday I bought some DVD, as I dunno what movie to watch, I just browse around. I found this movie, title sound quite good "Sharkwater". As I love diving, maybe this movie will show a lot of aquatic life.

This show is about how this guy want people to stop killing shark as they are gentle animal. There are alot of mesmerizing shots like got one he was padding the shark underwater, like someone padding a dog. Is so amazing.

This animal doesn't harm chinese as much compare to the westerner, but the chinese do consume their fin in millions or billions dollar a year, that include me. I don't really like shark fin soup that much, but I'll take them during banquet or dinner. But from now on, I'll try my best to boycott this food as the saying, when the buying stop the killing will too.

For those who like shark fin soup, after watching this show, I can confirm most of us will boycott the doing of man for killing sharks. I love shark and I'm sorry for eating your fin.

Light Bulb vs Fluorescent Lamp

This is one of the comment I received from Johnny5.
"As someone who sells light bulbs for a living, I am less enthusiastic than most about compact fluorescent bulbs. This is due to the fact that the ones currently available contain significant amounts of mercury. If one of these bulbs should break inside of a person’s home, it could cause a challenging disposal situation. It is my belief that the technology should progress to a point at which the mercury levels are low or nonexistent before people changeover their entire homes. Another consideration is that as these bulbs burn out, they will most likely be thrown away as though they are normal rubbish and landfills will have incredibly high levels of mercury in their soil as a result."

I always like light bulb, maybe because of the simple design and easily fix socket. Of course is not good for environment as the power usage is high. That why a lot of people change their like bulb to fluorescent lamp as they use less power.

But we can always change to a more energy save light bulb and can last longer and reduce the power usage, but it take some time to get to their maximum glow, and is not that bright.

Fluorescent lamp on the other hand has less power usage but they do have mercury contain that mention by Johnny5. Mercury is harmful to us and environment, if we discard the lamp properly then is alright, but the bad things is we normally just throw in the dustbin and this can be very environment unfriendly.

So is not easy to decide which to choose, or in my case, if it is not necessary to switch on the light, just don't. Try to reduce power usage as much as you can for the environment sake. Dispose your light bulb and fluorescent lamp properly. Change to energy saving light bulb will also be a good idea as you no need to fix new socket for the fluorescent lamp. So you as the consumer, you decide, be a smart one.

Happy Earth Day

Yesterday 22 April is the earth day, people around the world celebrating by planting tree and recycle campaign is being held. While the olympic torch is still burning...haha

Yesterday before I sleep, I still thinking what can I do to help environment, I was very keen to build a clean environment place where people can stay without using much air conditioning, much water, much light.....then I saw this article while I browse through the paper.

So this morning I check out their website http://smartandcoolhomes.com and I found out a lot of cool idea they have on reducing the heat in the house from 6-8 degree celsius. That is very impressive. This is one of the benefit they can offer....is kind of make sense...haha

Benefits of owning or building with Smart and Cool Homes

To the House buyer
1. The house is of higher quality
2. The house is cooler and more energy efficient
3. The house is built with an environmental friendly method, contributing to the efforts of sustainable development
4. The house can generate its own electricity
5. The house is value-for-money

To the Developer & Builder
1. Less labour is needed
2. Houses can be built faster
3. Less downtime
4. Will be able to deliver houses of higher quality and standard

To the Nation
1. With less foreign labour, there will be less outflow of currency from the country
2. A reduction in illegal workers
3. The quality and standard of houses will be higher

To the World
1. Sustainable development in habitat creation is achieved
2. Contributes to saving the environment
3. Less pollution of the earth, and reduction in landfilling

Maybe when my church new building, maybe I can propose to use this contractor. Seems good on every corner.

Climate Change Week 2008

This few days I saw paper ad sponsor by YTL on how to help reduce waste in the planet. Reduce carbon dioxide production. So I wrote a feedback on their website on .

This is the reply I get from them
Dear Kennhyn,

Thank you and we agree action on climate change issues should be everyone's priority as experts predict mankind only has a 10-year window to change its ways or face consequences that can threaten its very existence.

With Climate Change Week 2008, YTL hopes not just to raise awareness but to inspire Malaysians to be part of the solution and take action against it. We hope to reach as many Malaysians as possible and in time every Malaysian will take action against this major catastrophe.

Thank you once again for your input and do spread the word to your family and friends. We look forward to seeing you at Climate Change Week activities.

Thanks and best regards,
Climate Change Week Team

Nothing much capture their attention, as they just agree with me. Is good that that corporate people are involve in saving mother nature. But with their great effort is more on promoting their company on saving mother nature, and just donating money to the right people, rather really using and promote to their employee to be more dedicate with the project.

In the reply "experts predict mankind only has a 10-year window to change its ways or face consequences" with the way human mankind are living don't said 10 years, give them 20 years also nothing will happen. Consequences is confirm going to happen.

Like Al Gore said in his talk, is not the awareness we need to promote, is the urgency of doing it.

inside got some interesting fact on how to reduce carbon dioxide production that cause global warming.

Want to do something to help stop global warming? Here are 10 simple things you can do and how much carbon dioxide you'll save by doing them.
1. Change a light. - Replacing six regular light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs will save 400kg of carbon dioxide a year.

Is even better if you can survive without switch on the light, like my house most of the time is dark, unless someone come over.

2.Drive less. - Walk, bike, carpool or take public transport more often. You'll save 1.5kg of carbon dioxide for every 5km you don't drive!

I actually think of this for a while, like maybe I should ride a bicycle to work, since my place is not that far.

3.Recycle more. - You can save 1,000kg of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your household waste.

Most of the time I will split out my garbage, so that the recycle stuff are in 1 bag, and the none recycle one bag.

4.Check your tyres. - Keeping your tyres inflated properly can improve your car's fuel efficiency. Every litre of petrol saved keeps 2.5kg of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere!

5. Use less hot water. It takes a lot of energy to heat water - use less hot water by installing an energy efficient triple A rated showerhead (3 tonnes of carbon dioxide saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (225kg saved per year).

I try this morning, taking a cold shower, trust me is fun. Most of the time Malaysia is hot, doing so can really do us good. Please everyone if can, don't on your heater.

6.Avoid products with a lot of packaging. - You can save 545kg of carbon dioxide if you cut down your garbage by 10%.

This we have to blame on the advertising people, like me, always use alot of packaging to attract buyer.

7. Move your thermostat down 2 degrees in winter and up 2 degrees in summer. - You could save about 900kg of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.

Although this does not apply to Malaysia, but for those that can switch off their air-cond and sleep during raining day, please do so. This can save a lot of energy usage. Open your window and let the cool air circulate.

8. Plant a tree. - A single tree will absorb one tonne of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.

I never really done that yet, but I'll plant tree for sure.

9. Turn off electronic devices. Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer when you're not using them will save you thousands of kilograms of carbon dioxide a year.

I got bad habit on not turning electronic device off, as most of them got standby more, as this will also use energy. So I'll try my best to off everything when I went off.

10.Be a part of the solution. - Learn more and get active at www.ytlcommunity.com/climatechange.

I trying to get active on global warming, thanks to this website I do learn a few.

I do hope that more of you out there can do the part for the mother nature. Too little attention are given to this issue. And this issue is not getting better, As 10 years is a short period, if we can't change the world by then, we will all fry/burn after that. Do your part for mother nature.

Hi, my name is kennhyn

Yesterday I have a good chat with a friend about this project, then he ask me what is the core of all this, why I want to do all this. Then I start to explain how this project all came to hand and in mind. The soul for this project is to help create more harmonious place to stay in. Create a friendlier neighbourhood to stay in.

So he give me some pointer, and we chat on the stuff I try in like, if you see your neighbour in the morning, if you say Hi, he will reply, or u said morning he will acknowledge and reply. This is how your strike a conversation with your neighbour in apartment. He came to a conclusion that a name to be known by the stranger is important, because after an introduction, both you and your neighbour is no more a stranger. How easy is that? It is not that hard.

So I come out with this, around the world people being doing this as guerilla advertising or just to promote their own work. So I copy this idea and put in the text, "Hi, My name is _____. I stay here." So if people walk by your place, and look at the bubble, and know your name, next time in the morning, they greet you with "hi kennhyn" or "morning kennhyn" Ok maybe my name is a bit hard to pronounce....haha. This bubble is a sticker, and will be distribute to the whole apartment block, and at the back more detail on this experiment is explain. Of course is not easy to ask people to put their name on the sticker. That why I have to set up website, to create this awareness that our society is getting more and more self center. A more friendly approach should be promoted, this is what project sofa is all about. The website also show or teach how easy a simple greeting can promote a healthier neighbourhood.

This is the example of how the sticker can be stick on the front door on an apartment of condominium. I still haven't start the project yet, as I still preparing to create the website.

Brain cell are all warm up

I did set my alarm clock to wake-up 7am this morning so that I can work more on this project. But too bad, I continue sleeping. By the time I woke up already 9am. So as I took my shower all the idea start popping in, like how can I approach to this web layout. But the idea got boost up as I mix the project sofa and green project under one roof. And this is what I came up with. A website with both world together under one roof "PROJECT"

This is the initial idea of how the website going to look like. Simple as all info can be see inside, no matter which project, all title will be shown like small picture, when the mouse touch the picture, the title will appear on the left hand side. Then of course need to survive with some cash, ad placement is on the right hand side.

So when u click in the article you want to read, it will appear on the left and other cover story in small thumbnail on the middle. Again with ad placement.

Project Sofa - this one of my project that start with the word "PROJECT", I've been working on for some time before I became to lazy and the idea was stop and nothing happen then. To my surprise after 2 years still no on come out with something like that in Malaysia. Is a community project which I will interview anyone, from my friend, to celebrities, to politician, to artist & designer, musician....etc. Any tom, dick and harry will be interview, family, couples, partner....etc To create awareness of how people see in themself and the society, how to improve. The main purpose is to improve our quality of life, no matter we are rich, poor and average. Is to make the Malaysian more harmony and understanding.

Project Green - this project never really come to life, if I didn't see Al Gore talks in www.TED.com, it really inspire me to safe the planet. The point from Al Gore is not awareness, as everyone already knows about it, but is about taking action and really walk the talk, is time to save the planet.

Project

Sorry for not writing for a long time. Trying to give excuses, "I am way busy for a while now". My brain not really come out with anything good lately, but yesterday I went to this website www.ted.com and saw some pretty eye opener video on how people design and think. Then I watch Al Gore on his talk in global warming, he said "we should do something with urgentcy and not just a knowledge of it." Global warming is an issue that are very alarming and it will effect all of us. So out of no where it become inspiring to me. And I've been thinking since yesterday night to come out a project that can help everyone.

Since the politic in Malaysia has been very interesting since March 8, I didn't use much of my brain cell to develop any day dreaming except for hoping for a better days in Malaysia. But global warming is a world issue, maybe I can help by using design to create awareness.

So my brain cell are all activated since last night. My title of this project is Project....haha. Wait wait wait...I'll explain. I got one project sofa that never really went out. Is about knowing your community and sharing lifestyle and experience to other people. And this project has been tug under my bed for some times, So I was thinking with this new Green Project maybe I can merge with all the project and stuff. Then so call the new identity to my stuff "Project". It can be Green Project for protecting the mother earth or Project Sofa for the community. Maybe Design Project for some design stuff and many more to come.

I'll reveal bit by bit about my latest interest in Green Environment. Maybe I'll turn back to the hippie lifestyle of the 70's to appreciate the mother nature. By the way my camera spoil already, before that not much visual wil be shown here. Keep dreaming.

Kota Kinabalu trip

I went to Kota Kinabalu one week ago, I trip to conquer Mount Kinabalu.

Even on the plane the sky look more blue then the one here (west Malaysia). The water also looks more blue. Is totally what I look forward for.

After coming down from airport, I straight go to the town to look look see see. The town is so much better then what I expected it to be. But people here really like KFC, everywhere there's KFC just around the corner. I would said, Catholic church rank No.1, next thing is KFC. But the town is nice to walk around. Not as congested as major town on the west Malaysia. If you stay in town, there are handful to walk around.

The sunset on the coast, opposite warisan shopping mall. Very delightful sight.

Even the local kids are having fun in the water, the water beside the city is even cleaner then the one in Batu Feringgi....haha
Am I praising this place too much??

Not only I can enjoy the view, I can even have some pasar malam food beside the coast, is so nice. The aroma of the chicken wing, bring me direct to it. And it only cost RM1 per wing.....delicious.

At night my friend bring me to this place call Ocean Seafood, the prawn there is freaking nice. I totally forget to take picture, because the prawn is so freaking delicious, if u were there, please don't forget to order the coconut pudding, for a person who don't like dessert, trust me on ordering the coconut pudding.

A day has pass, this picture is taken from the backpacker place in the morning, not far from Karamunsing. This picture is taken at 6:pm in the morning. The sun there rise quite early, because of the time zone. I woke up so early to prepare myself for the highlight for this trip, that is to conquer Mount Kinabalu.

From KK town we need to take a 2 hour drive journey to Kinabalu park not far from Kudangsan. During the journey there, the view are breath taking. Above picture u can see that we are like standing above the clouds. Is really an eye opener.

This is kinabalu park, which is the place to register yourself if your are going to climb mount Kinabalu.

There is 2 route to reach Labang Rata, one is Mersilau trail, another is Timpohon (which is the easier one). From Timpohon to Labang Rata (which is the rest area) is about 6km.

I will write more on conquering mount Kinabalu on my next post, but to show-off that I actually reach the top since is not as easy as I though. Or maybe is just me getting old already....haha

Up there every single view are breath taking. Maybe if I have an SLR camera, the picture will turn out better, but what my eyes saw will always stay in my memory.

Saw a rainbow while I was coming down from the mount. Give a lot of semangat after seeing the rainbow.

The first thing I reach the car, I straight away sleep, because I was so freaking tired.

After coming down, not much picture is taken, as I was freaking tired. This is the food I eat in Salut, the prawn may not be as nice as the one in Ocean Seafood, but is alot cheaper. The restaurant is in a fishing village (I think, as it was dark when I reach there).

So before I leave Sabah to go back to Peninsula. My friend bring me to the Sunday morning market. Is really huge, those of you who been to SS2 pasar malam, this place is at least twice bigger then the SS2 pasar malam, and the crowd is really huge. Can find a lot of local stuff. And we stop and eat the Ngau Chap noodle (beef noodle), the Ngau Chap is really very tasty.

This is where I stay, when I visited Kota Kinabalu, cheap and clean backpackers area. What I miss most about Kota Kinabalu is the nature surrounding and the adventure it can offer. My next time coming back to Sabah is to do my Sipadan dive. But if time permit, I don't mind coming back to this beautiful town again. Before I end this post, this place really got alot of Leng Lui....haha (more tempted to come?)

A happy day

This post is suppose to post before I go Kinabalu trip, but is better late then never. That day is a happy day, because I just won a pitch for my company. Then Min Jie call me up to go for a drink, which for now is my favourite beer.

Total we drank 8 bottle of beer and a bottle of red wine. Life been fun that nite.

Six of us having a good time there, this is one of our favourite hang out area, where they serve weihenstephanar...I consider the best beer I ever drink. But it is a bit pricey still once a month is alrite. By the way today is my birthday, and I just bought a box for tonite celebration.

By the way this hang out is also to wish Stephen have a nice stay in KK, Sabah. He will be back soon to join for new year celebration...ola steven. Please let me know who interested to test this beer, I will always glad to bring them for a taste.

Saturday nite Gathering

Since monday I've been cleaning up my place. But after monday I did no cleaning, until saturday. Quite lazy in between that time frame. Is our usual Saturday gathering in my place. But this time around we will be doing back the makan-makan gathering.

This is my reorganize place, I move the TV rack to the dining area, so I have bigger space on the living area. So more people can sit comfortably. This picture is taken from the balcony.

Steven and Min Jie in-charge of the food. We a got a lot of stuff that night, we have cold-roast, fried rice, wanton, kelabu and pork ribs king, Of course our usual bevearage will be beer.

The tradition for newcomer to my place is to do shortgun. Every male have to do it. So this time around is this 3 new people, Chin Hui, Adam and Weng Leong.

We actually play games to finish up the fried rice. Where we pick a card, the loser of the previous game with the smallest card number can make up the rules, like all the heart eat, or even numbers eat or below number 9 eat....etc. Is quite fun, all we need is a good few rounds, and the fried rice is all clean up already. We also play Dal-motti and our favourite Queen and bubble,

Get some artistic shot since quite drunk already, total we finish more then 30 cans of beer, consider not bad, not too much also. Still waiting to get my and Weinstephen for house party, although is really expensive to drink, but is one good beer.

How can we forget to have group photo at the end. Is a fun nite, I hope to do this more often. Maybe at least once a month. Anyone want to come to my next gathering, or want to have gathering in my place, just let me know...haha

I want to go Diving

I got my diving licence last August. Since then I didn't go for any dive at all. I wish I can go diving very soon, but too bad the monsoon season already started, if I plan to go diving in the east coast of penisular Malaysia I have to wait until March next year.

This is my picture in full wet suit in the training pool. This picture is taken way back in February. Don't I look very professional in those suit?....haha who am I kidding.

I complete my open water test in Tioman. Is a nice place to chill out and dive. Is not that expensive also. If you can sleep on those bunker bed style of accomodation then, this place is nice and cheap to go with.

The first preparation to go to sea, preparing for a shore dive. Shore dive means walking from the beach and all the way to the sea. Very tire if caring all those big big stuff.

But lucky for us, they go trolley to carry the stuff until the checkpoint. haha...if no, then it will be a tiring walk, before we can actually dive, we already tired liao.

After a tired dive, CM (second from right) bring us to a waterfall not far from the Sealantis hut. The water if freaking cold. After a tired day, a can of beeer is a must....haha

My first real boat dive. Posing beside my gear.At last can now go deep. Of coourse to those pro's this is just easy stuff. But for me, this is full of excitement, where we can go down as deep as 30m....I think.

The funny stuff is, in the training pool we always wear wet suit, but in actual diving site, this is all I wear, t-shirt and short pants. We are lucky didn't meet any Jelly fish. Diving with plain clothes feel good.

Surface up for a thumbs up. Every dive give a new experience to a world that I always see in discovery channel but never did I know that one day I'll be really hands-on in the water enjoying the underwater world. Down there is a different world all together. I really wish can go for more dives a year. My aim is 4 dive trip next year at least.

On the last day of the Tioman trip I manage to get 6 dives, as for my friends, they did 10 dives, as I was sick on the last day. I wish to do more dive next year. Going all over Malaysia east coast to enjoy the water. OF course the aim is by end of the year can go Sipadan.....haha...Any one want to join me for a dive?
